Shore-based turbines could harvest wave energy while also helping prevent coastline erosion. The tetrapod’s used to help to weaken the force of incoming waves and protect the shoreline inspired the turbine project. The OIST Wave Energy Converter (WEC) turbines would be anchored near the existing tetrapod’s just above sea level, where they can harvest the energy of the waves while also helping to dissipate it.
