Following the launch of Gemini PDA and Cosmo Communicator, Planet computer has announced its launch of third gadget- Astro Slide. This is a 5G smart phone which has an extra ordinary feature. Planet Computer has added a new slide feature for the keyboard. This additional feature is said to be inspired from the 1990s model – Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). This slide in keyboard is the first of its kind in the world of smart phones.
The 5g enables smart phone is teamed up with a palm computer. The concept of introducing keyboard in a smart phone is a wacky and innovative step in the field of digitization. The keyboard has been launched with keeping in mind that this might be a forgotten feature in the near future.
The sliding hinge mechanism moves the touch screen to the side to reveal the keyboard. Once the keyboard is displayed in full view, all the apps, icons and other features on the home screen move to the side so that the user can view apps in comfort without any hassle.
The device runs on Android 10 and Planet Computer is considering to introduce Linux support as well. Astro Slide comes with a RAM specification of 6 GB and internal memory of 128 GB which can further be expanded using MicroSD.
The camera feature also seems to be promising with 48 megapixel camera on the rear. It also has front camera for video calls and selfies. However, the “rock slide” mechanism introduced by Planet Computers seem to be its new signature look. This feature gives the users an experience of using the smart phone as a mini laptop. This is set to be released in March 2021 with an early bird pricing of $500.
All in all, the new launch seems to be promising on quality, precision and performance levels. The current Astro prototype will be crowd funded on Indiegogo. If you love to type on keyboard and access smart phone in the very same device, then this product is strongly recommended for you.
