One such innovation of artificial intelligence systems is Drone, which aid responder survey damage and search for survivors. An important feature of such a system is providing real time documentation from the disaster affected area.

After the disaster, it is common for rescuers to take helicopters or airplanes to survey the affected areas and save human lives. However due to lack of fuel in the direct aftermath of a disaster, it is not possible to have so much air traffic.

Finding people and finding them rapidly is extremely important. There’s a caveat in there…without power and communication in the affected areas. That’s when drones come into picture. Drones are hard to beat in efficiency when it comes to assessing damage and spotting people in distress. Lightweight, portable, and efficient – drones are better alternative than manned aircrafts and can be sent out en masse post disaster. Drones have become the more cost effective approach to monitor the area. They can also be equipped with infrared cameras for viewing inside of the damaged structures. Drones can also help in providing rescue ropes and life jackets in areas which are more dangerous and where ground based rescuers can’t reach.
