A new flexible, high-storage supercapacitor could offer a better way to power medical implants. Typically, medical implants are powered by conventional hard-shell batteries, which require the implants to be large and bulky. As an alternative, flexible, biocompatible supercapacitors were made using non-flammable electrolytes. The device is made from common materials, lowering its manufacturing cost, and could also be used to power electronic wearables that conform to the shape of the body.
