Bomb-Sniffing Spinach

Researchers have infused spinach leaves with nanobionics to give the plant bomb-detecting abilities.  If the plant comes in contact with the nitroaromatic compound, the sensors will emit a fluorescent signal that can be detected by an infrared camera and laser. That signal can in turn be automatically sent via email to alert the user to the dangerous compounds. Watch the video here.
