Grain Sense Detects Crop Quality in the Field

The Grain Sense handheld scanner lets farmers scan and analyze their crops at home, saving time and money. Typically, farmers must send a sample of their crop plant to a lab to receive information on nutritional content. To help ease this process, the Grain Sense scanner can be used in the fields, scanning crops such as wheat and barley with near-infrared light. The scanner can work with just a small sample of kernels to determine the level of carbohydrate, oil, protein and moisture in the grain, then cross-reference the information with GPS and send it to a paired companion app.
