Teenagers on diet

Many teenagers these days are becoming overly cautious of their weight, and many are using cellphone apps to calculate the calorie intake and restricting themselves to strictly below 1800 calories a day.

It may be important to control the weight, but it is important to first understand if the weight gain during teenage is caused solely due to body fat or even bone density. In other words, we need to understand what percentage of weight gain is caused due to bone density growth at that age.

If bone density goes up during teenage and gets impacted by restricting diet,  then restricting diet may not be healthy for long term.
