Developed for people with impaired hearing, the Nuguna Neckband vibrates to alert the wearer to sound. It detects sound and analyzes the direction from which it came, then vibrate to alert the wearer. The device could help people who don’t want to wear a hearing aid become more attuned to the sounds around them, prompting them to turn to face a conversation or a smartphone alert. Nuguna could also serve to warn deaf wearers of dangers, such as oncoming traffic.
